We encourage composers worldwide to infuse their creations with the rich tapestry of Asian cultural elements. Our competition celebrates diversity, innovation, and artistic fusion in the chamber music genre.
Age groups:
1. Under 18
2. Ages 18 to 28
Composition requirement:
Original work with Asian elements
Instrumentation:
Piano trio (piano, violin, and cello)
Submission deadline: November 1, 2026
Award announced: December 1, 2026
Awards:
1. Up to $600 cash award for winners of age group 18-28; up to $400 for winners under 18.
2. Trio Oriens will premiere the winning compositions in 2027.
3. Trio Oriens will include a purchasing link for all award-winning pieces on the website.
Consent Rights:
1. Composers hold the copyright of their compositions.
2. Consent is required from participating composers to use their names, photos, bios, and composition materials to enter the competition.
3. The winning work must be credited as a winner of the Oriens Composition Competition 2026 in all printed materials and performances. For example:
This work was awarded First Prize in the 2026 Oriens Composition Competition.
4. Trio Oriens reserves the right to use the award-winning composition and any related audiovisual materials for non-commercial purposes.
Submission guideline:
1. Please submit a clear PDF file of your original composition with a performing time of 6 to 10 minutes. Please do not put your name or identity on your composition. We will number the works for the judge to review to keep the fairness of the judging process.
2. When entering the competition, you are required to submit an MP3 of a live performance (preferred) or a MIDI file of your composition.
3. It is required to include a color portrait photo, your contact information, and a digital copy of a valid ID or passport showing your date of birth.
4. Biography (300 words max in English)
5. A short description about the Asian elements in your composition in English (200 words max in English)
6. Submission fee: $25 USD with credit card
