Oriens Composition Competition 2024 Result

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants and our honorable judge, Professor Shih-Hui Chen, in the Oriens Composition Competition 2024. This year, we received an impressive array of works from talented composers aged 10 to 25, hailing from across the globe, including England, Canada, China, New Zealand, Taiwan, and numerous cities in the USA, such as Albany, San Francisco, Boston, New York City, Ann Arbor, Houston, and some others.  The quality and creativity displayed in this year's entries made the judging process both challenging and inspiring.

Winners:

Ages 18-25 Winner: “Dream of Spring Peonies” piano trio by Skyler Baysa, California, USA — Cash award of $600 and live performance in Spring 2025

Under Ages 18 Winner: “Echoes of the Mountains, Dance of the Spirit” string quartet by Zi-Jun Wang, Taipei, Taiwan — Cash award of $400 and live performance in Spring 2025

Under Ages 18 Runner-Up: "Luò shuǐ tiān" string quartet by Tzu-An Liu, Taoyuan, Taiwan — Cash award of $300 and live performance in Spring 2025

We congratulate all the winners and participants for their dedication and creativity. Your contributions not only enrich the global music landscape but also shine a spotlight on the vibrant and diverse musical narratives emerging from Asia.
